about why a northern virginia man may have staged a violent incident at johns hopkin hospital in baltimore. it turns out the gunman was likely distraught over his mother's condition gentleman the incident began at the hospital around 11:00 yesterday morning. the gunman and his mother are said to be from arlington. police say paul warren pardus pulled a gun and shot his mother's doctor while the surgeon updated him on his mother's condition. pardus barricaded himself in his mother's eighth floor hospital room killing his mother and then himself. for more than two hours, no one knew what was happening inside. >> my boss came running in and he told me exactly what happened, that there was a guy running around with a gun and to stay put. it was scary just knowing that machine -- someone is on the outside on a rampage with a gun in a hospital where we're supposed to be protected. >> reporter: police had originally identified par stay with us -- pardus as warren davis but he says he changed his name. >>> four metro access drivers accused of sexual assaults against disabled customer

with another check on our weather. everybody is back at school today. i think folks in virginia too. >> they went back yesterday and so today, we'll see another morning where it is okay. the conditions to head to school are okay. more clouds this morning. some of you out to the west may encount are a few showers here or there. at reagan national, the current temperature is 75 degrees. relative humidity is 66%. that is not bad. wind are out of the south. this is showing out cloud cover that comes through and than some of those showers. now, this overplays it a little bit. there are showers out to the west. they are not as numerous or impressive as this is showing. but it is showing some moisture associated with the frontal system that is coming through. so can't rule out a sprinkle or shower for some of our viewers early this morning. our temperature trend, after a high yesterday in the low to mid-90s, we're looking for a high today near 90 degrees. maybe about 89 degrees downtown and then for the rest of the week, highs only for the rest of the workweek, only in the upper 70s. low 8

at this time. >>> a teacher's aide accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year- old girl in centreville, virginia is now in a new york jail. authorities say they picked him up trying to cross into canada from new york state. police say the # 2-year-old assaulted that little girl at the mini land day care and fled when an arrest warrant was issued. he is expected to be extradited to fairfax county sometime in the next couple of weeks. -- police say the 22-year-old assaulted that little girl. >>> word that actor tony curtis has died. that is according to entertainment tonight which says his daughter, jamie lee curtis confirmed her father's passing. it is unclear exactly when this happened. he received an oscar nomination in 1959 for his role in the movie the defiant ones. tony curtis was 85 years old. >>> we continue to follow today's severe weather here in our area. we'll get an update on the blows mexico is taking from mother nature. another deadly landslide has rescuers working. >>> what fellow classmates did that police think pushed a teenager over the edge.  >>> another deadly mudslide
. slow traffic as you work your way south of montrose road to the split. in virginia, northbound i-95 slowing out of dale city trying to head north of the prince william parkway. no accidents, just volume. 66 slows at business 234. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >>> a speeding suv collides with an ambulance overnight. stacy cohan joins us live with the details. >> reporter: it was a very scary moment for the folk in the ambulance apparently. this happened just around midnight. they were just dispatched heading westbound on marlboro pike. and apparently, investigators were able to watch it all unfold on a dash cam that took video from the ambulance. the suburban was heading the wrong with a just speeding down when it was approaching the ambulance head on. the driver of the ambulance managed to swerve to the left and the suv, the suburban lipped the side of the ambulance, literally shaving half of that ambulance off and then it went another 40 yards, crashed into a brick wall, crashed into a utility pole and flipped up on its roof. all three members in that suv, three men
